If you or someone you know might see the handwriting on the wall with decreased income due to the pandemic, there are resources available that homeowners should look into sooner rather than later. Unfortunately, with things changing so rapidly now, homeowners may inadvertently wait until they are “underwater” and get behind on payments. But the 2008-9 recession taught us that getting behind may exclude one from some of the relief programs. We, real estate professionals, saw this a lot during '09 where instead of getting in front of what was coming when help was available, homeowners waited until they were behind a few months and received foreclosure notices, making it hard to slow what was already in motion.
In other words, the time for many to act starts now. Help was available then and it is available now, even at the early stages of this pandemic. And I believe these relief efforts begin with you, dear trusted real estate professional!
