How to Survive the Jungle of Mobile Apps
NOTE: This article originally appeared in 2013 but the NAR resource mentioned is no longer in operation as of 2016.
Has anyone else noticed that there is seemingly daily the "latest and greatest, must-have, can't live with out, this will revolutionize your life and business" app? If you are like me, it is difficult to keep up with all of the new apps that are coming out and, on top of that, wade through the ones that are actually beneficial to real estate agents (instead of eating the memory on your phone or tablet ugh). Well, I think I just discovered the solution to our quandary!
Not to be cliche, but there is now "an app for that". Actually, it is a website but it should also be developed as an app (hint, hint). The National Association of REALTORS(r) has been very forward-thinking in developing a site that we as REALTORS as well as our fabulous home buyers and home sellers can visit to review apps for both Apple AND Android platforms. This user-friendly site is RepurposedApps.com.
At RepurposedApps.com you will find categories such as business, travel, productivity, finance, news and more to help you sort through the right apps for you. But the best part is that the reviews of the apps feature an actual agent's testimonial to why the app has utility along with the ratings available from the Google Play store and the Apple Store.
I just visited the site and saw a review by a local Georgia agent I have met before who is very active in the Atlanta Board of REALTORS(r), Ennis Antoine. This is spectacular because now you can even see what apps work in your local marketplace by agents you may have had the pleasure to work with. It is notable that what may have purpose here in Atlanta may not have any functionality in LA, etc. for apps that are not generally purposed so being able to see what local agents recommend is a plus!
Do you know of or maybe you have even created an app that would help make our lives easier? You can create an account and recommend apps that have been a lifesaver for you.
Check it out and let us know what you think about the National Association of REALTORS(r) new site.
